Prodigy 3 brake controller settings
If I understand right, brake controller settings are largely determined by trailer weight. Correct? If so, for those with Prodigy3 what is yours set at so you font lock up your trailer brakes?

Here's a 6-page thread with the same question:
http://www.trailmanorowners.com/foru...odigy+settings
Looks like they're talking P2s for the most part, but I'd think using the P3 directions in combination with these guys' advice should get the job done.
There are a few other threads as well.
Good luck on your trip tomorrow!

After tomorrow morning I probably won't post for 2 weeks unless I have an issue. I try to stay off my iPad when I am camping since I have to drive to town to find wifi.
Thanks to everyone for all the help.

I have mine set at 11. I find it works best for me.

Tekonsha P3 Settings
I just got a Tekonsha P3 for my 2011 Honda Ridgeline that was already wired with a plug for a brake controller. My 2004 2027SL has new Dexter self adjusting brakes with new drums and pads.
I followed the directions in the P3 manual, setting the voltage to 6.0, and hitting the manual controller brake @ 25 with no TM wheel lockup. I did the same for all higher settings up to the max with the same results.
At all the settings from 6 and >, I could feel the TM brakes grabbing, so I'm rather puzzled at what setting to use. I've read what others are using, from 7-12 and using lower setting for wet roads vs dry to prevent TM lockup.
I think I'll start out at 7 or 8 and then a B1 booster setting per the Tekonsha recommendation and see how that works.

The book tells you to test the system with warm brakes, now having said that keep in mind your tow vehicles brake wear also will play a part in the whole equasion of settings. Initiall I was close to setting of 6.8/9 but after getting my brakes pads replaced (due to normal wear) and the adjustments made by the dealer I've bumped it down just a tad.
When I test the rig connected to the TV, as I apply the brakes I will feel the trailer stop first, but once on the road and going down hill I don't get that feeling. If I don't feel the rig slowing as well as I think it should be, I bump up the numbers. For me, the issue is is the rig slowing fast enough to respond to my needs.

Thanks for your reply. I tested the TM with warm brakes (I felt the drums) and still couldn't lock the brakes at max voltage. I'll feel her out on the road and adjust from there.

Hummm.... it maybe time to see if the TM brakes need to be adjusted? If the TV brakes drums are warm from use your tests and the TM brake drums are not, that maybe where the issue is. Good luck.

I said above that I tested the "TM" with warm brakes. I'm using Dexter Nev-R-Adjust brakes with less than 1000 miles on them. I definitely can feel the TM brakes slowing the TV down, however they never lock.
