Default How do you clean the roof?

I am thinking about using the my TM over the winter for Christmas. But I am curious, how do you clean snow off the roof when you fold up the trailer?

To clean off leaves, snow, etc., I always carry a small shop broom. After lowering the back, I sweep off anything on the roof. I also carry a small step ladder to stand on. This way I can reach both sides. I usually take a towel placed on the end of the broom to dry off the back roof also. If you wanted to, with a larger ladder, you could sweep off both roofs before you lowered them.

I set up a 10 foot step ladder and use a snow shovel with a plastic blade and handle (no metal parts) to carefully remove most of the snow. Try to leave an inch or so on the roof. The remaining snow is removed using a soft bristle push broom. If the snow is not deep and dry (fluffy) a small leaf blower will work nicely. Do keep the snow away from the air intake, especially if you are using an electric model.

Last winter we ran into a new problem . . . the seals along the bottom edge of both upper shells had collected rain water and froze solid. That made it impossible to close down as the seals would not compress. The sun did help to melt the seals on the side facing south. But the north side did not melt until the ambient temperature reached the 40's +. Finally used a pipe heat tape tucked up along the seals to melt the ice. That worked and allowed us to hit the road December 27th and head to our winter destination . . . Tucson, AZ area.
