Grab Handle Install
This is how I installed a moderately size foldable grab handle at the door. There’s no other locations that I could figure to mount a grab handle except right here. My big concern was the clearance between the two shelves where the mounting bolts would be on the interior, Fortunately this vertical area is where the wire casings are run. Therefore, there is about 1/2 inch clearance between the shells. So I used flat head cabinet screws and a thin aluminum reinforcement plate for a total of less than a quarter of an inch of thickness. Here are all the pictures. Hope it’s of interest, and possibly of help to someone thinking of installing a grab handle . Keep in mind the panel that this is mounted to is not very strong and the grab handle is certainly not to hold your whole weight while you’re getting in and out. It’s simply a balance point. One last thing, I originally was going to mount the larger grab handle, but I taped it in the location, and it was just too big, and wasn’t very useful, and quite frankly, it was a real eye sore. So I went on Amazon and found this moderately sized one about 13 inches tall and I think it looks a lot better and it gives me something to put my hand on when I’m coming and going.
