Default Air Conditioner

Took our new (to us) 2003 model 2619 on the road for the first time last weekend. Very pleased overall but ac unit was very loud. Any recommendations for a quieter replacement? Would like a lower profile roof unit anyway. How many BTU's do I need (in hot Texas weather)
Thanks!

Chris -

We have had a lot of discussion about air conditioners, and especially about the noise level. There have been a few solutions implemented that apparently have helped quite a bit. All of these discussions are in the Appliances Forum, which you can't see because your Free Trial Membership has expired. In order to browse through all of the technical forums (and there are more than a dozen), and pick out what you need, you need to become a Sponsor.

Go to the entry page of the forum at www.trailmanorowners.com, and click on the link for Site Sponsorship. There is a small sponsor fee, which pays the expenses of the forum and keeps us from having to accept advertising. Notice how nice and clean and easy the forum is without winking blinking mouse-over intrusive pop-up Yahoo-style advertising?

I will leave your post here for a couple days, but then I will move it into the Appliances forum where it belongs

I am also in the Houston area. Our 2001 has the side-mount AC so that won't help on this issue but if you have any other questions feel free to contact me.

Default Welcome!

Welcome to the TM forum! I'm also from Southeast Houston.

Wife's solution to the A/C noise is ear plugs. The kids and I eventually fall asleep. One good spin to the A/C noise is that it drowns out noisy RV campsites a.k.a. parking lots (we've since learned to just avoid them!)

We also tried running the A/C hard up until a late bedtime, and then turning it off. If you fall asleep in 1/2-hour, and don't wake up from the ensuing heat, it can work too...

We end up doing most of our TX camping in the spring & fall.

We just did the noise abatement with the Frost King foam kit from Lowes that has been posted before. Worked great on our 2008 2619 made a nice difference. Look it up cheap and effective.
