Buying TM with plumbing issue
I am buying a 2013 2922 that has a reported "leak in the freshwater tank and needs to be replaced"
It is at a dealership and they evidently winterized the unit and discovered the leak then. They are selling it As Is. The unit is a good deal, but I am trying to figure out what all I may be getting into, under the sink looks like the photo below. It looks like they cut away some veneer and spray-foamed a drainage pipe. But without knowing what it looked like before I am a bit lost.
Sorry, I can't provide more pictures, it is still at the dealership. I am pretty handy, so not too worried about making a repair, but it does concern me because I don't know the extent of the issue and it is winter so may not know for some time.
Thoughts or advice?

Which 2922 model are you looking at? If the tank is under the sink, I'm guessing it is a KS or KD with a 20-gallon tank .
Replacing a tank should be easier for a dealer with a service shop than it will be for you. I'm surprised they are not taking care of it as a routine matter. They should be able to get a tank directly from the factory, and have it shipped for low or no cost on the next truckload of TMs that come through your area. They also have a heated indoor work area with one or more mechanics on duty. Perhaps you should offer to pay for it as part of the purchase. If they give you a price, you might also query the factory about how much they would charge you for a replacement tank, including shipping. You may be surprised.
It just doesn't seem like a really big deal. I guess I fear that something more may be wrong with the trailer, and the dealer is using the tank problem as a shiny object, to justify the "As Is" declaration. On the other hand, it is a 10-year-old unit, so perhaps that is common and fair. Will you have a chance to do a really thorough look-over before you take delivery?

Yeah I am afraid of that as well, they initially told me they couldn't get in touch with TM parts department so are selling it with that contingency.
Since I can't pick it up for 45 days (across the country) I figured the request for As Is, is not an unreasonable ask by Camping World. They lowered the price as well so I do have some wiggle room on fixes and have done two video walk throughs.

Ahh. Camping World. I was thinking you meant a Trailmanor dealer, who would have some experience with TMs. Camping World, of course, does not, so I guess I don't blame them for not wanting to get involved with the repair. Have you actually purchased the unit at this point, so Camping World is simply storing it for you until you can get there? If you are looking at the one in Grand Rapids, it is listed as "Deal Pending", not as "Sold".
Assuming this is the one, the exterior photos actually look remarkably good, though you would like to be able to check the tires, for instance. The interior looks very good, too, although you would like to be able to raise the lid on the toilet, examine the mattress, turn on the air conditioner, the refrig, the oven, and the furnace to ensure they work.
By all means, call or email the factory and be sure you understand what a replacement fresh water tank is going to cost you, including shipping. I'm betting it will be at least several hundred dollars. Did they lower the price by that much?

I am getting the one in Grand rapids. I am simply waiting on the paperwork and then they are storing it for me until I can get it next month. They came way down for their original price and $1500 more when we moved it from a Deposit until I pickup vs just doing it all now as is. TM said part is $140ish and then shipping. But also said it was a generic tank I can find elsewhere.

Good news on the tank! I have encountered prices much higher than that, and if they can identify the supplier and model number of the generic that will do the job, you are right on top of things.

I have a 20 gallon tank, came out of a 2002 2619. Complete with sensors. Let me know if you’re interested.
And if it’s Camping World, the less they try to fix the better. I don’t know that I’ve read ANY good stories about CW trying to fix a TM.
If Michigan is across the country, where are you coming from?

I bought the unit and got it home this weekend! I am going to wait until it is warm to hook it up to water and see the tank leak. If I run off of city water it will just bipass that tank, correct?

As long as the one-way check valve (either before the pump or inside the pump) is working properly, yes. City water won’t touch the fresh water tank.
