    New owner of 2004 2720

Our 2001 had a factory side AC when we got it. It had a drip pan, but that cracked and leaked after about 15 years, and I couldn't repair it. I installed the same AC as Wavery - I found out about it from him - and it's an upgrade in power from the factory. 10K BTU I think and the factory was...

    New owner of 2004 2720

Welcome to the TM community! I also live in Houston and have a side AC in our 2001 2619 TM. The biggest problem you are going to face is finding or fabricating a drip pan to go under the AC. I looked for one for over a year until a member of this community parted out an old TM and sold one to...

    Grease Gun help

Thanks for all the tips! It is a manual gun. I am using the proper grease. I'll try the fresh cartridge idea! Happy holidays!

    3124kb/ks

Also important for driving on rough roads: Drain the hot water heater first. It is only held in by screws, and when I failed to drain it and drove on a rough dirt road, it moved significantly.

    Grease Gun help

I have a shameful confession to make and this is the only place I can do it... I am terrible at using a grease gun I thought it might be because I had a cheap gun, so I bought an expensive one. Now, every time I use it, the nozzle gets stuck when I try to remove it from the zerk fitting. I...

    Oven stability

I also had this problem. Since we *very* rarely used the oven (less than 5 times in 21 years), I opted to remove it.

    Camping in the driveway

We also did that after Hurricane Ike when our part of Houston had no power for almost a week! Our generator powered the trailer AC (when needed - right after the storm it wasn't very hot) and the fridges in the house - the essentials! We cooked on a gas stove on a table in the driveway.

Towing and new auto stop/start feature?

Thanks, that sounds great. I'll look into it, but I don't have a Windows computer to run the software on. Linux house only.

Towing and new auto stop/start feature?

Yeah. It especially irritates me that Ford does not allow the autostart to be disabled permanently. If you are not towing, you have to turn it off every time you crank the truck. I actually got a jumpered trailer plug to leave in the socket permanently, which did work as far as disabling it...

New owner - bent lift arm

My question is, with the pin missing, what is the upper end of the arm connected to?

Towing and new auto stop/start feature?

In my F150 having a trailer plugged in disables the function.

    Furion Chill 1450

    Surely it isn't really 1450 BTUs. Maybe 14.5 K?

    What would you do?

Kidkraz, it was the little velcro flap just to the left of the door knob as you face the door from outside. If I remember correctly, she stuck her whole arm straight up into the space where the flap was, then bent her elbow down to reach the knob. I couldn't do it. Next time we have the trailer...

    What would you do?

We found out that my wife (very petite) could push the flap out of the way (the one behind the stove), reach in, and unlock the door. Our 2001 doesn't have a deadbolt. Don't tell the bad guys.

    Pet peeve

    I remember seeing Nimrod campers.

    Pet peeve

My dad's first camper in the 60s was a Cox. Canvas top, heavy as hell beds that were just hinged and you had to lift them up and out. I remember us going through I don't know how many tires on a trip to Arizona in 1969. As an 8 year old kid I insisted on being able to watch the moon landing, so...

    Aluminum floor layer delaminated

Thanks for the info. I have bad memories of airplane model glue dissolving styrofoam from when I was a kid, so will be careful about the kind of glue. Or perhaps I will not do anything - I am not sure it is actually a problem, since it is on the floor.

    Aluminum floor layer delaminated

I pulled the camper out for "depot maintenance" today; one of the tasks was replacing some 10 year old stick down floor tiles that were curling up at the edges. When I pulled one up, the aluminum "skin" underneath it pulled away from whatever the layer below that is. Is there any way to...

Loose 12v connection to Front Shell

Thanks very much for the detailed reply! I realize now my post was not clear - from my wiggle tests, the problem is on the end of the wire that goes into the bottom of the trailer. So likely behind the fridge and I think I can rule out the scarier problems. I'm guessing it's the stanky butt...

Loose 12v connection to Front Shell

Apologies in advance because I'm sure this has been covered before here, but I can't find it. On the last trip, I discovered that we have a loose connection on the 12v power to the front shell. From wiggling the wires strapped to the lift arms, it seems to be on the wire that leaves the lift...
