Question Fridge on propane

We too are having a problem keeping our refridge lit on propane . We have a nice blue flame but when we release the red propane button inside the flame goes out! Could anyone guide us on how to correct this problem or at least where to start? Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

How long to do hold the red button after it lights? It normally need to be held for 30 to 60 seconds after it lights to allow for the thermalcouple to heat up.

I did hold it for 60 plus seconds and it still goes out. We are checking the orifice and will clean it as recommended. I guess one step at a time!

If you have a blue flame and it stays lite while pushing the button it has something to do with the safety circuit that the thermalcoupler is part of. This circuit ensure that you have a flame and you are not running un-burnt propane out of the burner.

My first thought would be to replace thermalcoupler. But look at it position. The flame should go around it and go past it by a little.

If your refrig is a Norcold, there was a recall for exactly this problem. A simple fix. Use the Search tool on Recall in the Appliance forum.

Well , we changed the wires this morn with a 12ga wire which was the the only thing available in our small town and it still won't stay lit! Could someone with a 2005 2619 or with knowledge of this problem guide me as to where I would find the thermocoupler, ( I am assuming it's around the flame somewhere) and how you do we change it. I am at a loss , I'm a nurse NOT a mechanic! Ha!ha! Thank you in advance!!

Thanks Bill for the info. On our return trip our propane fridge lost the flame. First thought was the wind. Tried to relight and would not stay light.

Thought about the thread and the fix Bill mentioned. I pulled the fridge out maybe 6 inches without disconnecting anything from the back. Pulled the red and blue wires that go to the interrupter, off at the connector on the thermo-coupler end, and jumpered the two connections. It worked fine. Built new red and blue wire and installed. All is OK now

When I built the wire I crimped and then soldered the connector on the wire and put shrink tubing on the connector before installing.
