Default Water Heater relay

Here are a couple of pics of the relay installation, for the water heater. The way this one is set up, there must be an "on" switch and an "off" switch, as they are momentary "make" and "break" switches. There are probably many different ways to go about this, what's here is just my take on it. Bill has some good info on this, and was good enough to share it.(there is also an "on" indicator lite between the switches).....Jim

Here is mine different way same result! When power to the trailer is unpluged the hot water tank will go off till you reset the relay ,I put a pilot swtich to kill all power to the tank . Thought about the off switch but I have to unplug trailer when camping so it will shut off then or use the pilot switch The rip

Thumbs up Water heater relay

Rip, Nice looking installation! Where did you find the relay, approximate cost, and is it part of the box in the pic, or is that a junction box? ....Jim

Any chance of a wiring diagram (I think I could figure it out but ---) and a parts list. Cheers, Dick Coombs

Bill the Moderator wrote two pages on how to and what to buy and will e-mail it to you. It's a great how to do paper!!! The only thing I did different was to add a pilot switch as a main, cutting off all power to the water heater you can buy the switch at Home Depot and put it in a surface mounted box .The relay and box can be bought at any electrical supply house it's a 2 pole 20 amp 120 volt coil The Rip

Thanks for the recognition, Rip.

Dick, I need an email address, since PMs won't take an attachment. You can PM me or email me with an email address.
