Mud Flaps
I read where mtnguy used mud flaps to protect plumbing. I was wondering if there is a certain type to get and were? Also any
help or trick on installation? Thanks

skrusins, I got my mudflaps from a truck parts store. The were the heavy "stiff" kind, and if memory serves me well, I think I made 2 Trailmanor mudflaps from 1 truck mudflap by cutting that puppy in 1/2. Referring to the link that Bill posted, mounting them depends on the type of outrigger that is there. My 2003 had the tubular steel style, so I just drilled several holes thought the mudflap into the outrigger, and screwed a self tapping nut into it. I did use large fender washers so the mudflaps wouldn't readily pull around the screws.

I got mine at a truck supply also, nice and heavy, plus they had 12" X 18" flaps for $5. each. Perfect size for my TM.

I got a set from Gempler's -
http://www.gemplers.com/product/1477...-Pickups-12x18
They are 12x18 and fit perfect on the frame outrigger. My 2003 has a box frame outrigger so I used a big rivet with some washers. I installed on on my friends 2006 and his has a single stamped steel outrigger. Used rivets again but could have used bolts/nuts just as easily.

mud flap/splash guard
It was a long process but found a universal 18 wheeler mud flap at NAPA, cut it down and installed so maybe one less worry for our trip this year. All though we have never had a trailer tire blow out an ounce of prevention......

mud flaps
Made mine from a couple of pieces of heavy rubber that came from a gasket and rubber supply house. Initilally they were too long and got in the way of the leveling blocks when setting up, but a little trim work took care of that problem. Don't know if they will protect the plumbing(as Bill said) but they do keep the pipes a little cleaner

When I first installed mine, somebody (Mike Laupp?) warned me of one potential problem. It is obvious that if the mud flaps are too short, they will not give all the protection they could. But if they are too long, they run the risk of getting caught between the tire and the ground if you back up over a minor obstacle. If they get caught, of course, it will pull them off. I originally cut mine to hang 1/2 inch from the ground when the TM was loaded, and sure enough, I backed over a low dirt berm and pulled one of them off. I put in a new set, and cut them 1" from the ground. So far so good ...
