Default New Owner of a 2005 2619!

Hello out there! Just picked up my 05 2619! Very excited as well as my family. It's in good condition for the most part. Mostly normal wear and tear as far as I can tell so far. Upon a little further inspection last evening when I got her home and opened her up, I noticed the caulk along in the front corner seams was deteriorating to the point of some concern for me. The back was too but not as bad. I've had some older camper before my buddies and I used for hunting trips and they leaked, on the corners, from bad seams. They were much older though and we would attempt to repair with re-caulking or siliconing but some of the gaps were quite large and water damage and rot had already set in. I don't want to go anywhere near that road with my new baby so I want to address this now. There is zero water damage in the one and I want to keep it that way.
So, my first question would be: Can anyone point me in the right direction and best steps to take to properly maintain these corner seams? I see there is an exterior forum so I'll probably post this there too. Just thought I would include this in my first post! Look forward to talking with everyone! Have a good one!

Congratulations on your "new" TM!
First and foremost, pay the $12 and join this group. This forum is like a text book of information concerning the Trail Manor. Anything you ask has already been asked and answered several times. All you have to do is to click on the Search button at the top and enter a word. For you, I would say to enter "caulking" or "caulk" and you will find tons of previous threads concerning leaking, caulking, where and how, and what kind to buy. But, unless you join, you will be limited in what you can access after a while. And this is one place you want access. Tons of info, stuff you never will think of.
There are lots of veteran owners here and most of them have been through it all before.
So, search first and go through all the postings of conversations. If you don't find what you are looking for, come back and ask. Then someone will either answer your question or point you in the right direction. Everyone is friendly here and you will get lots of help.
Welcome to the world of Trail Manor ownership!!

Karen

This topic of how to and best product for caulking comes up frequently. certainly a search would find a lot of information, but that is a lot to read, especially for new owners.

I think it would be nice if someone that knew this topic well would write up a concise posting and put it where the FAQ's are.

I would write it, but I am not comfortable about this particular subject to write something that would have very few errors in it.

I've also found it helpful just to read through the forum; that way you get a good sense of potential issues, how to prevent them or better deal with them when they happen.
Happy adventures!

And well worth the $12.00 a year for a TM encyclopedia of knowledge if I may add.

When a topic that I am particularly interested in comes up, I sometimes add tags to it so that I can find it in the future. It would be helpful if more of us did this.

For example, do an advanced search (using tags) for "buying used".
