Shower Wall Covering

We were without hot water for 2 weeks while the gas company worked on the transmission lines. So we were using the TM bath alot. We soon realized that the shower left a lot to be desired. I got some 4ft wide plastic at Ace Hardware. I was trying to figure out how to mount it, until I looked at the package that the plastic came in. Ace also sells a self stick channel with a tongue that zips into it to hold plastic around storm windows. It really works slick! I put one channel on top of both of the bathroom walls and one on the outside wall. The channel just clears the sink when you fold it down and you can't see it when the wall is up! Also you can just undo the outside wall channel and leave the other ones on the wall when you fold things down. There is much more room in the shower now since you only need one curtain for the open side of the tub. I'll try to post pictures.( 4 ft plastic hangs down enough to reach the back splash part of the tub)

An alternative solution that I did to my shower last year. I cut some heavy guage plastic to cover the rear (hall) and side (bed room on 3214KS) walls and hang a few inches down into the tub. Mounted with multiple pieces of vecro on the top of the bath walls and matching pieces along the top edge of the plastic. The plastic folds inside the walls when putting the bath down with no problems. This solution has worked very well for us.

I'd like to see the pictures as well. The other thing I'm curious about is how heavy (thickness) can the plastic be?

I think the plastic is 4 mil.Ace stock number 55326. Framing strips stock number 5069216

I did the clear plastic on the walls with velcro as well. I found a clear heavy duty shower curtain at Bed Bath and Beyond. That gave me a large piece with which to work. I attached it at the top and to the right of the shower bracket. It folds and works very well!

I like the channels to hold the plastic.

ferdoth - any reason you chose to use the framing strips/channel instead of velcro?
