Default Lighting the oven in the TM

Someone mentioned on this forum about how difficult it is to light the oven.
We would like TM to know that if you bake something in your oven, ( say a biscuit) and turn if off and decide you want to heat up another one, the pilot light is very far back in the oven, and a very small opening to fit your hand through with out getting burned on the rack. Guess you just need to wait till it cools off, or slow down on the biscuits, and eat less.

I don't agree it is very easy to light our Atwood IMO.

1. If you are done but there is a chance you may use the oven again just set it to pilot for a while.
2. We actually have a extra long lighter to prevent us from getting burned.
3. You could do the igniter mod for the oven. I started doing it last year & had a problem with getting the igniter in a safe usable position. I may try again but I broke the original igniter tip so need to buy another set. Also I would have to drill a whole in the panel for the new button since mine is setup for the burner already.

Default Lighting TM oven

You are probably young, and agile, compared to me. ha.
It is hard enough to get that low on the floor, with arthritis, and then reach all the way to the back, while trying to turn knob to pilot position.
I can do it, just takes me longer.
And then trying to re- start it without burning yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For sure we need another longer lighter, and I will try other methods you say.
Thanks
Baby Jane

Sorry I meant no disrespect Jane I do sometimes forget I am still younger to some I guess & in pretty good shape. I think your best bet would be install the grill igniter that has been discussed here in multiple post. This would take care of all your issues including your arthritis IMO. The longer lighter will still be an issue for bending over.

Good Luck & if I can be of any help just ask.

Default Young and Agile, Old and Arthritic

I did not think you were being disrespectful at all.
I am still young at heart and mind.
Still fairly young in my 50's, just have some arthritis. Have to keep moving and smiling. ha
Thanks for your advise.
I use this forum just because everyone is so helpful and nice.
Hoping that the Planner has gotten some response to the 2720 he is looking for.
Found your responses, humorous.
We talked about a TM for about a year, but when we got serious about it, we found a used one on craigslist in about 2 weeks.
But I advertised in Colorado Springs, and Denver, (as a person wanting one, and got 3 quick responses.)

I like to help people but I have a very bad habit of being to blunt & outspoken (especially considering I am southern born) which gets me in trouble quite often. I have always been this way it is my personality unfortunately. This is also why I own businesses I have never been a good employee.

Your not old until you believe & feel old IMO.

I am probably more outspoken than you. (Almost to a fault)
I also run my own businesses.
Not the best employee. (But a good leader. ha)

Perhaps it would benefit you to install a piezo lighter in your oven.

Here are some threads about it:

Sure beats having to get down on the floor and light the oven every time!
