Loose seal on rear storage door

The rubber seal around the rear storage door of our 2720SL is coming loose on a couple of corners. It seems to have shrunk, because as soon as I push it back in it pops back out again.

Any suggestions on repair or replacement?

Hey Allenj,

I had some that turned nasty and I bought a roll at the local RV shop and replaced it.

I know replacing something that looks good does not make since but it worked for me.

I had the same problem on my 2005 2720. I used glue to hold in place. Took a little while to get into place and it wanted to pop out. I just held in place till the super glue hardened.
I would have tried contact cement but was out. I haven't been out on the road since then to give it a real test.

Here's my guess, not having done it (at that spot, at least). Figure out where the ends of the seal strip are. Pull out the seal strip from the corner in your picture to the nearest end. Stretch the seal a small amount, and push it back into the curved area; then stretch the straight part of the seal a bit more, and push it back into place. If it shrinks on the straight part, it may pull the ends apart, but that may be more acceptable than a shrink on the corner, which is what I think you have.

Very hot water may help soften it, then bend/stretch the curve, then let it cool.

Is that stuff even a seal? Mine is doing that as well, but and while I haven't looked at it really closely, it looks more like decorative trim.

You are correct - it is just a decorative trim piece. I had to replace a vertical section on the curb side, rear outside corner of the TM body. Last December the bag seals froze while the unit was open. As I closed the inner shell the frozen bag seal got hung up on the lower end of the trim piece. That resulted in a split down the middle of the vinyl. I was afraid continued operation of the inner shell would eventually tear the bag seal. The vinyl molding strip is standard, can be purchased at any RV dealer - and is fairly easy to install.

My moulding was coming off around the corners. I purchased some white Camco 3/4" x 25' roll of moulding. It measured 7/8" wide. It fits in the groove tight and does not come out in the corners. I think the package was mis-marked 3/4". It is 1/8" wider than the original moulding. I am trying to find out if there is a 7/8" width available from Camco. It has not been cut down from 1" moulding because it has the two beveled edges on the sides. I have talked to Camco and they do not know how I got 7/8" wide moulding. They buy this in bulk and re-package it. Maybe they received the wrong size and did not notice and sold it as 3/4". The 7/8" works great. Maybe if you are at a RV parts store, check the moulding they carry in stock.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I decided to go the replacement route suggested by Harry and picked up a 3/4" x 25' roll of Camco 'RV Vinyl Trim' from my local dealership.
It took about 30 minutes to work it into the channel all the way around the door, and it's back to looking like new now. We'll see how it holds up through the fall and winter temperature changes.
The 3/4" does seem to be the correct size for the channel, although I didn't measure its exact width.
